AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEJanuary 7, 2021Baldwin County Democratic Executive Committee Condemns Objections by Alabama Representatives for Electoral College CertificationFairhope, Alabama The Baldwin County Democratic Executive Committee resoundingly and unanimously condemns the events of insurrection yesterday at the U.S. Capitol. We are particularly appalled by the actions of the 7 elected representatives from Alabama that voted to object to certification following the violence and bloodshed in the halls of Congress, including newly sworn in members Representative Jerry Carl and Senator Tommy Tuberville. Our elected federal representatives took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. Instead, they very clearly and deliberately put personal political ambition above the sanctity of our democracy. There has not been a single case of widespread voter fraud from November’s elections that has been proven and upheld in a court of law. No state has overturned their election results. And not a single Congressional or Senate race saw voting irregularities or has been contested because of voter fraud. Yet, 7 Alabama elected officials voted to object to certification of the presidential election results in the Electoral College after the horrific violence of yesterday took place. It is clear that Representative Carl and Senator Tuberville have fallen victim to the politics of division and hate. At a minimum, they should issue an apology to the people they serve for the vote they took yesterday and admit to their mistake. Hateful politics has no place in America. We must resoundingly reject these factions that spread misinformation and wish to tear the fabric of this country apart. We can disagree on policy and the what is best for Alabama and the nation, but we cannot be led by men and women whose political convictions are so weak that they are easily swayed by political opportunism and extremism. A failure to issue an apology for their actions is tantamount to approving these seditious acts. We harbor no distinction between those committing the violence and those who allow it to happen with their votes to sew the seeds of anarchy. For questions, please contact:Jason FisherChairmanBaldwin County Democratic Executive Committee(251) 210-8343Baldwin County Democratic PartyP.O.
