veterans.

The mission of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs is to ensure

Kentucky¡¯s 344,000 veterans and their families receive all the benefits

and services they have earned. We provide benefits counseling, skilled

nursing care at state veterans homes, dignified interment at state veterans

cemeteries and many special programs.

Benefits Counseling Branch of KDVA: The first step in obtaining federal

veterans benefits such as disability payments is to file a claim with the

federal VA. KDVA provides accredited advocates to help file claims for

both federal and state veterans benefits. We are co-located with the federal

VA in Louisville. KDVA has Veterans Benefits Field Representatives

stationed throughout Kentucky to help you in your community. KDVA

will help you complete the required VA claims forms and will advise you

on how to gather the necessary evidence in support of your claim.
