1779905-46545500Executive Director Position Announcement – Georgia Transit Association (GTA)GTA is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving transit outcomes across the state of Georgia. We work on behalf of the 123 counties served by public transit by engaging state legislators to achieve equitable transit outcomes and seek to establish stable funding for transit at the state level. We also serve as a forum for exchanging information, ideas and experiences to positively promote transit’s image around the state. The Association is governed by a 15-member Board.Currently, the Association is searching for an Executive Director that will identify strategic opportunities to build relationships with decision-makers, work with a wide array of coalition partners, raise money from large and small donors, build membership, and increase our visibility and reputation in the media and online.Must be a confident and aggressive self-starter, a team player, an innovative problem solver and able to manage multiple priorities at once, with minimal management direction. Needs to be detailed oriented, resourceful, work well under pressure and have strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a hunger for learning and achieving.Experience with transit is a plus. Responsibilities:Fundraising: Write grant proposals, build relationships with Association membership and cultivate large donors and corporate sponsors Policy: Build relationships with key players in Georgia; bring problems and potential policy solutions to the attention of decision-makers that include but are not limited to: state legislators, the Governor’s staff, state regulators, local officials and federal representativesCampaign Coordination: Develop and execute plans to win on a variety of priorities that the Executive Director will work with the Board to identify; assess opportunities for building political support for our agenda through coalition-building, grassroots organizing, and media outreachCoalition Building: Cultivate relationships with diverse allies and expand the constituencies supporting the Association’s efforts Outreach: Coordinate Association communication, social media presence and public engagements through media events, press releases, op-eds and other visibility tactics with a goal of building name recognition for the organization, educating the public about regional and state transit issues that build support for Association positionsStrategic planning: Work with the Board to identify the best opportunities to efficiently build Association name recognition and access with key stakeholders as well as the general public throughout the state; create and execute long-term strategic plans to grow the organizationGeneral Management: Help the Board of Directors recruit and on-board new members; recruit and manage interns or volunteers that can help the Association reach its goals; assist Board members with management of committees; manage membership listsFinancial Management: On-time reporting of financial statements; annual submission of I-990Event Planning & Management: Serve as the lead event planner and manager for the Association’s Annual Conference (held every December); set and reach fundraising goals for the event; develop long range plan for event programmingIdeal candidates will possess the following skills and/or experience:Five to seven years of progressively more responsible management experience in the non-profit industry, trade association industry and/or government.Experience engaging elected officials, staff and government agencies is preferred.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to make presentations, good public speaking and professional public presence a must.Ability to network and recruit support.
