Changing the Number of Columns using Sections
The number of columns changed from 2 to 1 to 3. Each time the number of columns is changed a continuous section break was created. (Insert >> Break >> Continuous) The number of columns in each new section was changed. (Using either the Columns button in the standard tool bar or using Format >> Columns) A line was then drawn and anchored to an empty line in the new section. (using the line tool in the drawing tool bar)
You are to change the number of columns in this section from 3 to 4.
You may find the following easier to do if you show invisible characters. Use the Show/Hide Button on the standard tool bar
Add a new section with 3 or more empty lines below this one (Insert >> Break >> Continuous). Change the number of columns in this new section to just one(Using either the Columns button in the standard tool bar or using Format >> Columns).
Add a copy of the line used above to the middle of this new section. Unfortunately the line will go to exactly the same position on the page as the original just drag the line to the proper location.
Dashes
There are three types of dashes: the hyphen, the N-dash and the M-dash. The previous sentence contains hyphens.
If you want to describe a sequences of pages, you use the N-dash: pages 5 – 8.
But for a pause in a sentence you use the M-dash—at least you should.
You can type the N-dash and the M-dash using MSWord by using the following procedure.
Retype each expression in the line below it. Follow the instructions exactly.
good - luck (word space hyphen space word space)
good--luck (word hyphen word space)
