The homework for this assignment relates to creating the toolkit that you will need as you engage in achieving your vision.Due date for this assignment as stated by your instructor: __________________Use a chronological calendar (one that you create yourself, or you can use the What’s Next IL Planning Calendar) for your Junior year. State what tests, and certification exams that you plan to take, and what dates they are offered.Go back to your homework assignment from Workshop 1. In that assignment you chose 2 schools that offer post secondary training or education in your career choices.List those schools again, and then look up how much it will cost to attend that school per year:School: ________________________________Cost:________________________________School: ________________________________Cost:________________________________The cost of post secondary education is substantial. Looking at the annual cost to attend your chosen schools, list how you plan to pay for your post secondary education:______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Is there anything that you should be doing right now to prepare for paying for your post secondary education? Look at your calendar. What should you add? Are there application deadlines for financial aid or scholarships? If so, add those dates to your calendar?Finish your “elevator speech” that you started in the workshop. Polish what you say and how you say it. Practice, practice, practice. You will need your elevator speech for job shadowing, job interviews, writing college essays and other opportunities. Bring a copy of your finished speech to your teacher. Remember that an elevator speech is a short (15-30 second, 150 word) sound bite that succinctly and memorably introduces you. It spotlights your uniqueness. It focuses on the benefits you provide. And it should be delivered effortlessly. Go on-line, print the applications for your chosen post secondary education, training or career provider. Add deadlines to your calendar and familiarize yourself with what you will have to do in order to complete the application by the deadline. Will you need references? Does it require an essay? Would a referral be helpful? Add these items to your plan.
