June 3rd is the Little League Day at the Huskies. We must get our rosters to Greg by May 1st for the players to get into the game for free. The Huskies are also setting up baseball clinics for the kids. The will also be accepting applications for bat boys/girls for the 2018 season. The application can be found on their website. The kids must be 10 years and older to apply. Treasurer’s Report: Karri was absent. Will get update for Nov. and Dec. 2017.General Checking: Savings Account/Money Market: Concessions Account: Old Business:Update: Tee ball is not exempt from selling the huskies card. Also if they want a 2nd card they can call the board and ask for more cards. Additional cards will be available for $20, so the league gets $5 and the player can make $5 as well.Sponsorship: Tee Ball will have cotton t-shirts. Looking at a $200 sponsorship and a big title sponsorship ($5000.00). We are going with Duluth Hockey Company/K1 for jerseys. Motion made by Josh and seconded by Matt. Motion carries.Registration update/Putting up signs: Updates have been sent into the website people. The league fees were updated to match current fees. Registration will start February 2nd, 2018. We have 10 yard signs to put out on the busy corners of the area. Lana is going to try to send out an announcement for registration at the school. Troy and Scott will put up the banners at the field on February 2nd.Same info as #2.Quad Cities: 9&10 year olds. Troy and Jeff will handle this. All in house teams. Minors would play, use all full district rules. Would start earlier and play more games. We would play all area teams, not just Hermantown teams. With this league no one walks. The kids pitch until 4 balls are reached and then the coach comes in and pitches, so the kids can hit. That’s the only rule change.Concession: Feb 1st Anne will call and renew. We want to get the concession stand opened right away when the season opens.New grips for the tee ball bats? Easton has a 30% discount for little league bats, plus they have grants available. They have USA Baseball bats to choose from. They range from $55 to $99. Kyle will call Easton. Motion to have Lana and Kyle spend up to $1000.00 on bats. Motion made by Josh and seconded by Jeff L. Motion passed.Groomer: Josh is going to ask to see how much it will cost to fix our groomer. Otherwise we will look at getting a new one. Josh found one on Craigslist. Update: the groomer that Josh found was sold.Lana wants to buy new locks for the concession stand.New Business:Late registration/Fee: Final cut off day will be March 15th, 2018. The late fee will be $30. Registration closes March 16th, 2018. Motion passed by all. Between March 2nd and the 15th, we can guarantee a size for the jersey, but after the 16th there would be no size guarantee. Max Family amount: the max that a family will pay ($350 as it sits right now) is for the first two kids, then discounted for every kid after that. The highest fees would be the first two players. We would have to make discount codes for this to work on the website. The max volunteer fee will be $80 per family.Number of volunteers: Setup day 10 people, baseball day 15 people, cleanup day 10 people. Maybe switch from Dibs to Signup genius. It is easier to use and people already have accounts set up. If we don’t have enough volunteers for the concession stand, we can hire kids to work the stand. We should have to stand open for Summerfest. We should try to do something unique instead of just the normal hotdogs and burger. Try to get donations form US foods. We are going to buy a bucket of balls for each level. Also get a better quality ball for tee ball. The balls were falling apart way too early in the season. Let’s see what we have left from last season and order new ones. We should order All-Star baseballs at this time also.Coach’s application: the coach’s application along with concussion training and background checks on the web page. We will google some other cities application questions to find questions for our application.Gopher state vote: They have 69 associations just in the twin cities area associated with Gopher state and over 400 associations just playing in tournaments. (12 years and under) Majors and below would stay little league, nothing would change at all. Intermediates and above would go with gopher state baseball. Most of MN is governed by Intermediate/Bantams Leagues/Gopher State. The whole area (8 or 9 cities) want to switch over to this new league. There is not many leagues that still use Little League. We would need a new insurance and 501c. Little League is kind of forcing our hand on this decision, otherwise we wouldn’t have any other teams to play, but Hermantown. Little League will not allow our 13 and 14s under Little League rules and insurance. We are voting on separating the 13s and 14s and they will to be with Gopher State.Motion made by Kyle and seconded by Josh. Motion passed. Most of the board wants to meet for both leagues. We will stay as the same board for both leagues and see how it goes for the near future.Notes from meeting on January 25, 2018February’s board meeting will vote on structure of our board. 1 president of Hermantown Youth Baseball, 2 Vice Presidents one for Big League and one for Little League, 1 Secretary and 1 Treasurer and then the rest of the board. This is how Shoreview is set up. Big league registration money will go to Proctor Synergy until the Big League gets its own 501c. Motion made by Josh, seconded by Matt. Motioned passed. We voted on a new name for the league. We choose to go with Hermantown Youth Baseball. Motion made by Josh, seconded by Troy. Motion passed. The jerseys will be different colors based on sponsor’s colors. The umpires will get paid based on what level they are umping for, Big League vs. Little League. Meeting Closed: 8:57 pmMarcus made a motion to adjourn and it was seconded by Josh.
