Ask Ss how many of them use a computer daily or weekly. Ask how many Ss have a personal email address. Ask Ss what they use email for/what would they like to use email for. List reasons on the board. Ask Ss to name some of the realia displayed on the table. Write new realia vocabulary on the board. Introduction: Introduce computer vocabulary by displaying the worksheet: Vocabulary – Parts of a Computer via the projector. Have Ss repeat each word after instructor as instructor points to the vocabulary word, as well as, the realia. Presentation: Give Ss a copy of the Vocabulary- Parts of a Computer worksheet. Have volunteers read the vocabulary word and its definition aloud as instructor points to each word. Practice: Ss will provide the correct vocabulary word to the instructor after the instructor provides the definitions. For example, “What is used to enter information into the computer?” Students may use the vocabulary worksheet as a reference. Presentation: Display Creating a Gmail Account worksheet via the projector and discuss the process. Allow students to ask questions. Practice: Distribute Create a Gmail Account worksheet. Walk students through the process of creating the email account. This activity will work best with 2-3 instructors/volunteers available to assist Ss. Be sure to consistently confirm that Ss are keeping up with the instructor. Evaluation: Ss will, with assistance, follow the necessary steps and successfully create an email account. Once they have done so, Ss will share their individual email addresses with the instructor by reading them aloud.
