Job contextSCVO has been facilitating work on the funding landscape across Scotland’s voluntary and community sectors for a number of years. Building on Funding Scotland, the grants that we manage and policy development, we are expanding our small team to develop this alongside voluntary and community sector organisations.The coronavirus crisis resulted in significant strides being made with funders working more closely to share knowledge, learn, adapt and act faster and create simpler and more coordinated pathways for organisations to apply for funding. Many have identified that ‘five years work was achieved in five months’ and we wish to capitalise on that to enable more efficient processes for accessing funding.Working as part of the Digital and Development Team, the role will be responsible for:Furthering a modern streamlined relationship between the voluntary sector and funders, driving greater collaboration for more effective funding processesManaging and increasing SCVO’s portfolio of grants with a focus on using them to innovate funding practiceBuilding and sustaining relationships with funders and voluntary sector organisations Working effectively with other teams across SCVO to share knowledge, good practice, learn and make relevant links to further influence the funding landscape.This role requires a proactive individual with a strong knowledge of the funding landscape in Scotland and the potential for harnessing and driving the enthusiasm for change.3. Person specificationCandidates will be expected to demonstrate the following range of experience and skills:EssentialOver three years of experience within a funding role including immersive knowledge of the voluntary and community sector in Scotland A track record in bidding, winning and delivering contractsStrong experience of developing and managing a grant fund portfolioThe skills and confidence to liaise with, influence, provide support to, and develop partnerships with individuals and organisations across ScotlandProject and programme management skills based on user centred, agile methodologiesExperience of financial and budgetary management in the range of ?1m per annumStrong skills in analysing written and numerical informationExcellent people management skills, including coaching and mentoring approachesAbility to work successfully with a wide range of teams across SCVO based in a number of locations.Ability to make effective use of a wide range of IT and digital applications (e.g. Office 365, Salesforce, Slack).DesirableSignificant knowledge of using and configuring Salesforce CRM4. Specific dutiesSecuring and Managing Grant Fund SchemesIdentifying and securing opportunities to develop funding schemes that test new and innovative approaches to grant makingResponsibility for delivering SCVO’s grant management portfolio against negotiated contracts.Responsible for relationship management of partners within funding schemesResponsible for the continuous development of SCVO’s portfolio of funding activity. Assist in the assessment of grant applications where appropriateExternal Funding LandscapeConvene and chair regular ongoing opportunities for voluntary sector orgs to influence the funding community to better meet their needs Continue to develop the momentum with funders to develop processes that streamline the ways in which organisations apply for funds.Internal ActivityConvene a regular internal information and knowledge sharing group and contribute to the wide-ranging funding and income generation agendas that SCVO is involved in.5. Location/AccountabilityThe post will be home based but there will be significant online interaction and support with the team. When lockdown restrictions have been lifted the postholder will be based at one of SCVO’s offices: Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness. SCVO Terms & Conditions Salary: SCVO Grade 8 (?43,200 to ?48,000)Annual leave: 28 days plus 6 public holidays Cost of living increases: On 1 April each yearContributory pension scheme: SCVO offers a Defined Contribution Pension Scheme to its staff.?
