CURRENT EVENTS RUBRIC AND DIRECTIONS

CURRENT EVENTS RUBRIC AND DIRECTIONS

Throughout the year, we will be following current events in our Social Studies classroom. You may use newspapers, the Internet, news magazines and TV or radio news programs to get your current event articles from. During certain times, you will be asked to find articles based on a specific topic. Sometimes this choice will be left up to you. For Friday, September 25th, your summaries need to be of your own choice. Two summaries/responses are due on that morning, and they must be brought in on that day, typed out on white paper. Please include the articles!

• Summarize the article using your own words.

• Remember to make sure that you include information answering the following questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How?

• React to the news article. This means to write how the article made you feel, what you think, or how it may have changed your feelings or opinions.

• The news article must be at least 3 paragraphs long.

• Attach the article to the back of the current events form.
