Springfield, IL (October 2, 2017) – The Illinois Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) has teamed up with State Farm Insurance Companies to provide approximately 200 high school students training on how to be positive, effective leaders in their homes, schools and communities. The training which was held on Sunday, October 1, and Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Northfield Inn/ Conference Center, Springfield, IL emphasized leadership skills, community service and the State Farm teen safe driving campaign.

The students received leadership training from Patty Hendrickson of La Crosse, WI. The community service project for the weekend was a Diaper Drive for Illinois DCFS. Over 285 items were donated for the project including packages of diapers, wipes, lotions and baby powder. The Advisers in attendance received training on how to incorporate FCCLA National Programs in their FCS classrooms. Their training was facilitated by Sharon Pierce of Austin, TX.
