Rocky River High SchoolWealth Management Course SyllabusMr McLaughlin(440) 356-6800Mclaughlin.matthew@ SynopsisWealth Management is designed for students who want to become financially savvy individuals. In this course, we will learn the fundamentals of money management. Students will analyze the basics of financial documents, savings, investing, budgeting, spending, insurances, and credit to name a few. Students will also participate in the Ohio Stock Market Game where classroom concepts can be applied in an interactive simulation.Students will be exposed to a variety of informational resources, such as: Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance, The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), Lakeshore Community Credit Union Making the Right Money Moves, and The National Council on Insurance.Grading PolicyGrades are based primarily on completion of assignments. Weekly goals must be set and successful completion of those goals will be rewarded. Quality and quantity of computer work completed are both essential. This course is project based and graded accordingly. Homework PolicyThere will be outside assignments. Students will need to participate in surveys, interviews, and other marketing techniques to help understand marketing concepts. It is essential that you start early on assignments and turn them in on time. Timing is essential in marketing!Materials / Supplies / Textbook PolicyYou will need a 3-ring binder to keep handouts and create your own personal finance portfolio, samples of your best work, business reports, and Finance Plan. You will also need a notebook.Make-up PolicyMake-up is only available for excused absences. Please be sure to communicate about sickness or extended leaves. This is a student responsibility, NOT the instructors.Extra Credit PolicyExtra credit is available on request for special circumstances. The business department encourages individual reading of business-related books and magazine articles.
