Info from April 2015 Newsletter Change. It is a scary word. However, I am seeing change everywhere I look. I see the seasons changing, time change, my son changing into a young man and so many other things. The greatest change I see is in the family of God at CBC. I am not talking about change in procedure, vision, or worship style. I am talking about a change of heart. I talk to people all over our community, and they ask me about our church. They are hearing great things about CBC.I am so glad for that. That is the result of sacrificial and unconditional love of Christ. That is what this world needs, a church that is relevant, intentional and authentic. A church that meets people right where they are and loves them regardless of what they have done. I am seeing that. We had a young lady and her husband share their CBC story in church last night, and I was so moved and impacted. She shared how they have been looking for a church for a couple of years but could never find one that they felt the Lord leading them to. They have been here three weeks, and she said this is home now. Listen to what she said, “ I have never felt so loved, and everywhere I turn, someone is talking to me and showing love.” She also stated later that many Christians rejected her because she and her husband had a lot of tattoos. She said that young and old alike accepted her and her family. The greatest part of the story is she and her husband went to the Crusade and gave their lives to Jesus Christ. Wow!!!! CBC be encouraged. The way you are treating the stranger is having an impact. I applaud you. Change for change’s sake is useless, but change for the Kingdom of God has an eternal impact and leaves a Godly legacy. By the way, I am changing too. God is doing a work in me like never before. I am revived and enjoying church, life and the Lord like never before. Your testimonies of love are changing me and molding me into the image of Christ more and more everyday.Change can be terrifying, but if we do not change, we die or waste away or become spiritually irrelevant (like the salt that lost its savor). Change is terrifying because it can lead us down caverns we have never been. It can move us into places where we are not comfortable, where things are different than we are used to. Remember that different is not bad it is just different. Do not be afraid of those giants that come to steal your joy in Christ. Slay them with your faith and move on through those uncomfortable places. Those giants were placed there to stop you from getting to the other side. They know what is on the other side and would love to keep you in a life that is spiritually stale and irrelevant. You may be asking what is on the other side? It is the will of God. It is the experiencing of who He is. If we refuse to go through that change and be content with the status quo, we will deserve what we get, casual, powerless, boring Christianity. So we must understand the pain of change is better than the pain of staying the same, as if you could. Finally, we must remember that whatever life throws at us, we have each other because we are not just a church building; we are a family, the Family of God!! Seek. Knock. Luke 11:10 is our Youth Theme for 2015. We have been emphasizing upward development this year. Things like prayer and reading the Bible. We will go a lot deeper with out theme at the Spring Retreat. I can’t wait for Spring; it is too cold right now. So let me fill you in on what is going on with out Youth Spring Retreat.April 24th – 26th, we will be going to Copperhill, TN at White Water Express. We will be white water rafting on the Nantahala River, doing paintball, and having a time of worship and devotions. The cost will be $75 for members, plus money for dinner on the 24th and lunch on the 26th. The youth has to weigh 60 lbs. to raft. This will be an excellent time for your youth as they bond with each other and get closer with God. Money and consent forms are due March 25, 2015. Consent forms and packing list can be found on the church website or just me for them. The bus will be leaving 4:00 pm, April 24th, and our estimated time of arrival back to the church is 3:00 pm, April 26th.In Christ, Pastor JonDeacon UpdateThe deacon Update for April is a sign of how the Lord continues to grow our church. The activity and fellowship opportunities are endless for our members and those who walk through the door. Along with the spiritual growth comes the planning and work to keep our church focused on where the Lord is leading us. We can say with praise – there is a lot going on at Clarendon Baptist Church!First, the Community Crusade was dynamic. The power in the nightly message touched believers and nonbelievers alike. Pray the Lord will continue to use our spiritual leaders to bring His community together. Now to get down to business:A new phone system is in the works for the church. Farmers Telephone will no longer be supporting our old system. So it must be replaced.Family Life Center needs a heat system as the old one is not functioning properly. Units have been obtained and will be tested and installed before the next season of cold weather. We are looking for 1 or 2 individuals interested in getting a CDL license to drive the bus. Contact Tom Chappell.Moldova Mission Team is ramping up. Please pray how the Lord will use you to support this mission.Building committee is still working our details on the proposed additions & renovations to the Fellowship Hall. Stay tuned for updates. This semester of M2M is well underway. The comments and conversations are uplifting. Please be respectful of the Sanctuary and do not bring food or drinks into it – except covered containers of water. Lastly, happy First Anniversary to Pastor Jon & Miss Adriene! It has been 1 year since you joined our church family. We are so glad the Lord brought you to us!!Tom Chappell“Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.’”Matthew 16:24 ................
