Short Story - Freshman English
Follow instructions on how to fold the flipbook as shown in class. You should have 6 flaps.
Flap 1
You should label this page “foreshadowing.” The label should be placed at the bottom, left hand corner, of the flap. Next, supply the label with the proper definition of foreshadowing as can be found in your notes. Then choose one of the stories read in class. Identify the foreshadowing in the story, write down the lines that reveal this, and illustrate on the flap. Finally, place the title and author of the story you chose to illustrate on the flap.
Flap 2
You should label this flap “Personification.” The label should be placed at the bottom, left hand corner, of the flap. Next, supply the label with the proper definition of personification as can be found in your notes. Then choose one of the stories read in class. Identify personification in the story, write down the lines that reveal this, and illustrate on the flap. Finally, place the title and author of the story you chose to illustrate on the flap.
Flap 3
You should label this flap “Simile” The label should be placed in the bottom, left hand corner, of the flap. Next, supply the label with the proper definition of simile as can be found in your textbook. Then choose one of the stories read in class. Identify a simile in the story, write down the simile you found with proper MLA citation, and draw an illustration of the simile on the flap. Finally, place the title and author of the story you chose to illustrate on the flap.
Flap 4
You should label this flap “Metaphor” The label should be placed in the bottom, left hand corner, of the flap. Next, supply the label with the proper definition of metaphor as can be found in your textbook. Then choose one of the stories read in class. Identify a metaphor in the story, find a quote that reflects the metaphor, and draw an illustration of the metaphor on the flap. Finally, place the title and author of the story you chose to illustrate on the flap.
Flap 5
You should label this flap “Theme.” The label should be placed in the bottom, left hand corner, of the flap. Next, supply the label with the proper definition of theme that can be found in your textbook. Then choose one of the stories read in class. Identify the theme of the story, find a quote that reflects this theme, and draw an illustration of the over-all theme on the flap. Finally, place the title and author of the story you chose to illustrate on the flap.
Flap 6
You should label this flap “Symbol.” The label should appear in the bottom, left hand corner, of the flap. Next, supply the label with the proper definition of symbol that can be found in your textbook. Then choose one of the stories read in class. Identify the symbol in the story, find a quote that reflects this symbol, and draw an illustration of the symbol on the flap. Finally, place the title and author of the story you chose to illustrate on the flap.
On the back
Place your name and hour on the back of the flipbook. Staple the rubric and instructions to the back of the flipbook. The rubric should be facing up. Write your name and hour on the rubric.
*You may use each story once; you may not use any story more than once, MLA citation must be included for ALL flaps.
