2019 Dental Hygiene Degree Admission Requirements –The Abridged VersionApply to Harper College Program application “window”: October 1, 2018 – February 1, 2019 (February 1, 2019 is the application deadline; check the program web site for information on the application status.)Submit your program application with a copy of your valid (within the past 3 years) NLN score report documenting satisfaction of the minimums in the verbal, math, science and composite areas of the test. NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you refer to the program web site for details on how to interpret your NLN score report. Minimum percentile scores required: Composite—60; Verbal—40; Math—40; Science—40Resources for test preparation include The Review Guide for NLN-RN Pre-Entrance Exam, Third Edition available at the Harper College Bookstore, online and through retail bookstores; a course offered through Harper’s Continuing Education division titled: NLN Pre-Entrance Exam Preparation; and McGraw-Hill’s NLN PAX-RN Prep app. Other test prep tools include Magoosh, Learning Express Library and study guides for the ACT or SAT. (Test dates that are close to an application deadline do tend to fill quickly, so please plan accordingly.)It is very important that you make financial aid preparations well in advance of any deadlines so that you know exactly what resources are available to you.Official (sent directly from the institution to Harper) high school transcripts or GED results are required; however, this requirement can be waived if official documentation is submitted demonstrating completion of the equivalent of a U.S. associate or higher degree. Official transcripts from colleges other than Harper will need to be submitted and evaluated (request form is online, and there is no charge) in order to learn how any previously earned credit might apply to Harper’s program.Academic prerequisites: (The “or better” is significant! To be eligible applicants must:-Be a resident of Harper’s district or a community college district that does not have a Dental Hygiene degree program and whose college district is a member of the CAREER consortium; and-Have satisfied all academic and document requirements; and -Have a ranking score of 65 or higher; and-Must submit the application and meet all admission requirements by January 15, 2019. There are 24 seats available for Early Admission. Once the 24 seats are filled, and/or any applications received after January 15, 2019, as well as any applications that do not meet all four of the above conditions will be considered under the Standard Admission Option. There will be no exceptions.Standard Admission Option: (For seats remaining following Early Admission) The files of all applicants who have submitted their applications by February 1, 2019, (and who were not already accepted through Early Admission) will be reviewed by the admissions selection committee. -This file review meeting will be held as soon as possible following the program deadline. -A “final” minimum admission score will be determined, and applicants whose ranking scores are at or above that minimum will be considered. -Admission cannot be guaranteed and will depend upon ranking score, residency, and seats available. If the program should fill, qualified applicants who are not admitted will go onto an alternate list.
