The Department of ECE Postgraduate Entrance Scholarship for Child and Family Education

Eligibility Criteria (a) Enrolled as a local student of Master of Arts in Child and Family Education in

2018/19

Selection Criteria (a) Records of academic achievements

- with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent

- academic awards/scholarships/grants - publications (b) Contributions to the field of child and family education/services in Hong Kong

Selection Procedure Interested students should apply for the scholarship with

i) a curriculum vitae and/or documentary evidence of his/her records of academic achievement, and

ii) a statement of application (no more than 400 words) outlining his/her commitment to academic studies and contributions to child and family education/services in the local community much be provided.

Applications should be emailed to macfe@eduhk.hk or posted to:

Room 28, 1/F, Block B2, Department of Early Childhood Education, The Education University of Hong Kong, 10, Lo Ping Road, Tai Po, Hong Kong SAR.

Application deadline: 20 July 2018 Announcement of results: Late August 2018

Provision of the Scholarship (a) The scholarships will offset part of the awardees' tuition fees. (b) The successful students are allowed to hold either The Department of ECE

Postgraduate Entrance Scholarship for Child and Family Education or Master of Arts in Child and Family Education Entrance Scholarship. (c) The successful students are allowed to hold concurrent scholarships or awards but the total amount should not exceed annual tuition. Nevertheless, scholarship/ award to support outbound activities will not be counted towards the aforesaid ceiling of scholarship amount.

Conditions of Award (a) The scholarship will be terminated if the recipient ceases to be a student of the programmes concerned. The Department reserves the right to ask the recipient to refund the scholarship either in part or in full. (b) The scholarship will be terminated if the recipient has committed any unethical and/or undesirable behavior and/or violated the regulations laid down by the University. The Department reserves the right to make judgement on undesirable behavior. (c) If none of the candidates meet the eligibility and selection criteria in the academic year, the scholarship will not be offered. (d) Recipient of the scholarship is required to attend functions related to scholarships organized by the Department. (e) EdUHK reserves the right to deduct the scholarship from the student's outstanding University Fees (if any).

Handling of Information and Personal Data

The information collected from students will be used in processing application for this scholarship. The collected data will be purged after 2 years. The provision of personal data is mandatory or the EdUHK might not process the application. The personal data collected might be transferred or shared with other unit(s) of the EdUHK to process the application and any other related purposes, but will not be transferred to outside parties. According to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, students have the right of access and correction with respect to the personal data provided.
