How to map a network drive in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

(\\hopper\IntroToEcology\IntroToEcology)

* You must be on a university computer connected to the wired network, or SECURE Wi-Fi.

* Depending on your configuration, you may be able to use these instructions on your personal computer, with an on-campus WIRED connection. The professional/business/ultimate versions of Windows are recommended. Windows Home versions may work, but will not be supported if you have trouble connecting.

1. Open the computer icon (found on the desktop or in the start menu)

2. In the top menu of Computer, click “Map Network Drive”

3. In the Map Network Drive box, enter the following information:

a. Drive Letter: (any unused letter you prefer)

b. Folder: \\hopper\IntroToEcology\2012

c. Reconnect at logon (check to remember this setting if on your own computer)

d. Click Finish

f. ** In not on a university owned computer, you may be presented with logon box. If so, enter your FULL su e-mail address as the username (user@susqu.edu) and your SU network password (what you use for computer labs, blackboard, mySU – not your SU Gmail password).

4. The network share will now show up as a drive under “Computer”

How to connect to a network drive on

Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

or Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)

• You must use these instructions on an SU owned Mac with a wired connection or on the SECURE Wi-Fi.

• You may also use these instructions on your personal mac while on campus and using a WIRED network connection.

1. From the desktop, go to Finder – preferences

2. On the general tab, make sure all items are selected under “Show these items on the desktop” (or else you won’t see the server after you connect)[pic]

3. From the desktop, go to “GO” – “Connect to Server”[pic]

4. For Server Address:, enter : cifs://hopper/IntroToEcology/2012[pic]

5. You will be asked for your username and password. Enter your SU username and your SU Network password (what you use for computer labs, Blackboard, mySU – NOT your SU Gmail password). If you have trouble connecting, sometimes you have to enter your full e-mail address as your username (user@susqu.edu).[pic]

6. Your drive should now be connected and will appear as a drive on your desktop.
