~a detailed list of what completing each chore entails~

GENERAL PICKUP (twice daily)

For each room:

• Remove items from the room that don’t belong. Put them in their proper places (or in basket for that purpose)

• Make sure there are no big messes that need to be cleaned up. If there are, clean them.

• Sweep floor

Kitchen

• dishes in dishwasher, clear sink of dirty dishes & wipe stove top and counters, trash out

Bathroom

• remove laundry, take out trash, scrub toilet and rinse sink, pull the shower curtain across

Living Room

• straighten chairs, remove clutter, close desk top, put DVDs away, turn on lamps for guests

Playroom

• books on shelves, toys in toy-box, vacuum rug, take out trash

DEEP CLEANING

Kitchen (daily as needed, weekly)

• Empty dishwasher & put all items in proper places, make sure all items are clean, wash dirty items in the sink (do not put them back through the dishwasher!)

• Stack any dirty dishes in the dishwasher

• Wash large or very dirty items in the sink, dry and put away

• Empty strainer from the sink into the trash

• Sprinkle sink with baking soda and scrub sink; rinse/ (Mom will bleach as needed)

• Use surface cleaner on stove top; scrub clean and rinse with sponge

• Use surface cleaner on cabinet doors, top and bottom, and on front of dishwasher

• Remove all items from countertop that do not belong (put them away, or in basket to go into another room)

• Use surface cleaner on counters, scrub stains with baking soda; wipe behind all containers

• Wipe down windowsills

• Use glass cleaner on windows (once weekly)

• Make teas and/or juices

• Use surface cleaner on kids table and chairs

• Sweep floor

• Mop floor (twice weekly, minimum), spot clean as needed (check under kids table and in front of stove, sink and refrigerator)

• Use surface cleaner on front of oven

• Use surface cleaner in microwave (turntable may go in the dishwasher)

• Wipe counter by microwave

• Clear and wipe down kitchen table and chairs (if Mom has craft things out, omit this step)

• Straighten items on bakers rack, remove stale chips/crackers, etc…

• Set table for dinner at 4:30 PM

• Turn on dishwasher if full or right before bed

• Take out trash

Refrigerator & oven (weekly as needed, monthly)

• Remove old leftovers

• Wipe down each shelf (moving items as needed)

• Remove and wash each drawer, replace

• Wipe down shelves on the door (moving items as needed)

• Use surface cleaner on insides of both doors, and bottom of refrigerator

• Organize contents

• Remove old items from freezer

• Consolidate like items and organize contents

• Wipe down interior of freezer (moving items as needed)

• Remove shelves from oven and scrub in sink

• Use oven cleaner inside oven; scrub clean

• Replace shelves in oven

Inventory Kitchen (once per month)

• Refrigerator

• Freezer

• Pantry (high, low, rack, over stove and spice)

• Non-food items

Living Room

• Remove items that do not belong in this room; put them away or in basket for that purpose

• Have boys get toys and put them away

• Make sure all the shoes are in the shelf (not spilling out onto the floor)

• Close roll top on desk

• Remove paper from printer and close up

• Clear top of desk

• Scrub out recliners

• Wipe surface of coffee table, dust legs

• Wipe both end tables, dust underneath

• Put away all DVDs from top of TV and console

• Put remotes on top of console

• Dust console

• Use glass cleaner on TV

• Sweep floor

• Mop floor

• Wipe inside of front door

China Cabinet, Bookcases & Hallway

• Glass cleaner on doors, wipe down

• Carefully remove each item, clean and use glass cleaner on shelf, replace items

• Straighten books on bookcases, dust tops of books and each shelf

• Remove books that do not belong from shelf and put away

• Dust picture frames

• Sweep/mop hallway

• Make sure toys, clothes and other items that do not belong are not in hallway

• Dust wash stand in hallway

Bathroom

• Use baking soda in sink, scrub

• Use surface cleaner to wipe down counters and top of toilet tank

• Use disinfectant in toilet and behind seat, scrub toilet bowl

• Use disinfectant to clean floor around toilet

• Use baking soda (or Ajax or SoftScrub) to clean bathtub and walls of shower)

• Remove empty shampoo and other bottles

• Use glass cleaner on mirrors

• Remove laundry from room

• Remove other items that do not belong

• Straighten book case (shoes stacked on bottom, books in top, hairdryer in basket)

• Get clean towels from laundry room, fold and place on shelves

• Check toilet paper, toothpaste, mouthwash, shaving cream, shampoo/conditioner, soap, cotton ball, Q-tips, contact solution, wipes & allergy medicine and tell Mom if we are almost out

• Sweep floop (and Hallway)

• Mop floor (and Hallway)

• Pull shower curtain across

• Check Hallway, make sure its clear of toys and items that do not belong

Playroom

• Pick up books, place on bookcase, straighten books on bookcase

• Pick up toys, put in proper bin, basket or box

• Remove any dirty laundry to laundry room

• Tale out trash

• Sweep floor

• Vacuum rug

Bedroom

• Remove all sheets and pillowcases to be washed, take to laundry room

• Make beds

• Remove toys and items that do not belong in bedroom

• Put all videos in proper cases, and put them in cabinet

• Gather all books and stack in basket on Moms nightstand

• Remove any dirty laundry to the laundry room

Laundry Room

• Wash laundry

• Dry laundry

• Hang Dads work clothes

• Hang moms dresses, skirts, jeans and shirts

• Sort clean laundry to proper baskets

• Socks in sock box

• Sweep floor

• Mop floor

• Remove items that do not belong in this room

• Dad will organize his area
