March 2, 2017 Think Zebras: Celebrating Rare Disease Day 2017

Objectives: Hear from families of patients with rare diseases about their diagnostic odysseys and struggles in obtaining a diagnosis for their child. Distinguish characteristics of rare diseases and their relatively common prevalence in the general population. Identify resources available to clinicians for assisting families with rare diagnoses and determine when to refer to other providers.

March 9, 2017 Hypertension for the Pediatric Primary Care Physician

Objectives: Determine the significance of hypertension as a risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Identify best practices for physicians, hospitals, and clinics to ensure accurate blood pressure measurement in pediatric patients. Determine appropriate diagnostic testing to distinguish primary from secondary hypertension. Formulate a toolkit of practical therapeutic strategies (both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic) for BP-lowering.
