CertainTeed Exterior Living Spaces® Home Makeover Facebook® Contest Wins National Recognition for Digital Marketing Communication Achievements
(Valley Forge, Pa.) – CertainTeed has been honored by two industry-leading trade media organizations, Hanley Wood and PR News, for its 2012 $75,000 Exterior Living Spaces® Home Makeover Facebook® Contest. An independent judge’s panel of marketing and advertising experts selected CertainTeed as Hanley Wood’s Brand Builder Platinum Award winner in the Best Social Media Strategy: Best Integrated Campaign category. In addition, as a PR News Digital PR Awards finalist, CertainTeed was recognized with an Honorable Mention award in the Contest/Game category.

The inaugural Hanley Wood Brand Builder Awards recognized the most innovative and effective marketing campaigns throughout the residential and commercial design and construction industry. The competition was designed to honor the organizations that have demonstrated superiority in their ability to develop, create, implement and execute marketing strategies and tactics that define excellence. Other brands recognized with a Platinum Award included Andersen® Windows and Doors and Schindler Elevator Corporation.
The annual PR News Digital PR Awards are the industry's top honor in the PR and communications digital space, recognizing outstanding digital initiatives among corporations, agencies and nonprofits. Finalists are those organizations that took risks, made tremendous strides and understand the power of digital communications in public relations. Entries are judged by a blue chip panel of corporate, agency and academic executives as well as by the staff of PR News and are evaluated based on creativity, innovation, sound planning, implementation, outcomes and proven success in aligning strategic objectives with end goals.
CertainTeed was one of only seven finalists in the contest/game category, along with FIAT®, Toshiba America Business Solutions, Talenti®, POND’S®, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and category winner, AT&T®.
The award-winning contest was featured on the CertainTeed Living Spaces Facebook page
(certainteedlivingspaces), which offers tips on outdoor living trends, design inspiration, backyard safety, gardening and more. To enter, homeowners uploaded videos explaining why their home needed a facelift with CertainTeed products. The videos receiving the most ‘likes’ competed for best overall pick by CertainTeed judges.
The contest awarded one lucky family $75,000 worth of CertainTeed exterior building products, which included the choice of CertainTeed’s expansive selection of polymer, vinyl and fiber cement siding, roofing, housewrap, decking, railing, fence and trim — as well as installation. The winner and construction professionals also starred in a series of music videos and webisodes featuring their home’s remarkable transformation. Local CertainTeed credentialed contractors Turn Key Home Improvement, Elieff Brothers Roofing and Michigan Fence provided their expert installation services for the renovation and are featured in the webisodes available at the CTLivingSpaces YouTube® Channel (ctlivingspaces). The popular videos have received over 1.2 million views to date. The success of the webisodes – and music videos – have made the contest an annual event through CertainTeed’s Living Spaces Facebook page.
