We will review from what they learned last week about name, what the importance of names is and how having our own names in the classroom help us and make us special. The prints can be displayed on the science wall for the children to compare them using a magnifying glass. Add pictures and books to support the children’s ideas on feelings. If they need assistance guide them through a hand over hand model. At home you can use paper and a model how to make straight line for them. Then have them try to imitate the same thing to the best of their abilities.Math:On a paper draw a circle, square, and triangle. It will have 4 emotions names and picture to assist the children on what feeling it is. The children will place their name picture under the emotion they feel. Block Center:Encourage students to build different faces of emotions. What does it mean?Art Center: Draw a picture of how you are feeling today. Use paper, crayons, markers. Label your emotion on the bottom of your work. Discuss why you feel that way with your teachers or parents.Writing Center: Add feelings words with pictures in the center and have children try to write the word on their own. At home you can use paper and write the words on top for your child to copy.Library/Literacy Center:Add books about feelings in the library center. Add paper and crayons so the children can draw what they saw in the book. Dramatic Play: Have the children act out their feelings. Using a mirror have them make a face. Have their peers imitate that face. How do you think your friend is feeling? Add child friendly mirrors and feelings card to assist the children making their expressions. At home you can have your child look in the mirror and make a feeling face ex sad face, happy face, angry face. Have other family members imitate the child’s facial expression. Ask your child how they are feeling? Can they show you in the mirror? Sensory Center: Play dough- Students will engage in rolling and cutting skills, identifying shapes, and using cookie cutters to engage in sensory work, and strengthen grip by squeezing the dough. They can also make their emotion faces with the playdough. We will review some of the different feelings and things that might cause us to feel these feelings. (Nervous, Scared, Excited) Using Visuals of these feelings we will discuss how some feeling cause us to feel uncomfortable and what can we do to feel better when we feel those uncomfortable feelings. Math Center: Encourage students to use sticker or dot-sot paint to create pattern. Have them follow an ABAB pattern an example would be red, blue, red, blue what comes next? Have your child try it several times at home with different colors. Art Center: Put up some pictures of people in the family. Children could create the pictures of their family and create a frame for it. At home you can use paper and crayons to draw family members and popsicle sticks or straws to make a frame. Block Center: Using the community people and blocks build your classroom. Pretend you and your friends are the people figures. How do you feel being in school with your friends? What do you like to play at school with your friends? Add pictures of various emotions the children can use as a visual aide to show how they feel if they exhibit difficulty expressing it. Writing Center: The children will use their writing folders to practice straight lines. At home you can use paper and a model how to make straight line for them. Then have them try to imitate the same thing to the best of their abililites.Dramatic Play Center: The children can recreate themselves eating dinner with their family. How does it make you feel? Talk about what you are cooking, have them pretend to be the chef and cook together.
