The newly merged parish will have separate Masses in three languages: English, Polish, and Spanish. It will continue to own and use the worship sites of St. Mary’s, St. Anthony’s, and Holy Family. These sites will retain their current names. The new parish will continue to own Holy Family School and St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery. There are no plans at this time in the parish or diocese to sell off any of these properties. The new parish will have over 5,000 families. It will have nearly 1,000 children in religious education. And, it will continue to host The Polish School.Farewell Party forFather MikeSunday, May 26, 3 PMHoly Family School GymIt’s not good-bye, it’s we will see you later. Please help us send off Father Michael in a special and spectacular way. Our upcoming linkage, with our neighbor, St.?Anthony Claret, calls for a change of our shepherd. Fr. Mike has been instrumental in leading the flock, evangelizing the Good Word and sharing Jesus Christ with us in various ways on many levels. We, his people, would like to show our gratitude for all the blessings he has bestowed to us both emotionally and spiritually. We are grateful for his dedication and service to our parish and he will be sorely missed but surely never forgotten. Please help us appreciate him with a celebration of laughter and memories…There will be American and Polish fare, plenty of desserts, entertainment, beer & wine. This event is free but please RSVP by May 13, so that we have a ballpark headcount. Call the rectory 732-363-0139 or email Cscotti@ Or jpeterson@Fr. Marian StayingFor One More YearAs I mentioned many times when I talked at all the Masses about the future priestly staffing at St. Mary’s and St. Anthony’s, that any likely scenario or plan could always change at any time. Such is the life of a priest who serves a diocese – he goes where he is needed, and sometimes at a moment’s notice.Though it was a high likelihood that both Fathers Mike and Marian would be leaving this July, Bishop O’Connell has made the decision to keep Father Marian at St. Mary’s to continue to minister to the Polish (and English) community for one more year. –Fr. MikeFr. Mike’s New AssignmentI have received official notice from Bishop O’Connell that I’m being assigned to be pastor of both St. Dorothea in Eatontown and Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach. Those two parishes will “link” with me as their common, new pastor. –Fr. MikeThe New Pastor of St. Mary’sWill be Fr. Pedro BouBishop O’Connell has announced that for this upcoming year in which St. Mary’s and St. Anthony’s will be “linked” with a common pastor, that this pastor will be Fr. Pedro Bou (rhymes with ‘sew’). Fr. Pedro is the current pastor of St. Anthony’s and is a member of the religious order of Divine Word.MaryAnn Collett RetiringMaryAnn Collett has been a lay Pastoral Associate of St. Mary’s for the past several years. During that time she has been organizing and training lay ministers, leading grief ministries and scripture studies, helping with Religious Ed., and performing HR duties for the parish staff.MaryAnn has decided to retire… but partly. MaryAnn will continue to work part time doing grief counseling, life coaching, and spiritual direction for individual clients. If interested in these services, you can contact MaryAnn at 732-202-8352.OutreachFor those seeking financial aid: please visit the food pantry between 9:30 am and Noon on Thursday. This appeal is separate from the Endowment Campaign, Faith to Move Mountains. Please consider giving a donation of any size to the annual appeal. It does help fund necessary expenses of the diocese such as seminarian formation. Our participation in this appeal has historically been low, with less than ten percent of the parish contributing. Please consider supporting this appeal this year and each year going forward. All are welcome to attend and praise our God and join in the Heavenly Banquet.Watch Out for Email and Charity ScamsScammers have been hitting churches in our area sending emails to people that claim to be from their local pastor or church claiming to need money or gift cards right away to help families in emergency need.Never give anything to anyone because of a request from an email without first calling the supposed source of the email to verify its validity. Same with phone calls. If the caller claims to be from the church, end the conversation and look up the church number and call the church to see if the call is legitimately from the church. Same for requests for donations by mail. Look up the recipient’s address to make sure it is the legitimate address.A similar scam happened a few years ago when the email was supposedly from a local priest who was traveling abroad and all their money and papers were lost or stolen and they now need your help to get back home. All the while, the priest was still in the U.S.Also, never give any money to anyone standing outside the church (or even those brazen enough to go into the church) to ask for money. First thing you do is pull out your phone and take a picture of them so you can show the police. Second thing you do is call the police. Do not wait to tell the priest about it. Act immediately to get the police present. If the person is a local in need, the police will know and deal with them accordingly. If not, they’ll also know if they’re part of a scamming ring that goes from church to church as a scam operation and arrest them. Also, if you can do it safely, take a picture of the license plate of the car they get into to show the police. For anyone truly in need, point them to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.Duszpasterstwo PolskieDuszpasterz: Ks.
