JOB TITLE: Technical Project Leader - Architecture

NATURE OF POSITION: Full-time permanent position @ 37.5 hours per week

APPOINTMENT SALARY RANGE: $65,000 - $80,000 gross per annum

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: EIT Allied Staff Collective Employment Agreement or EIT Allied Staff Individual Employment Agreement

LOCATION: Taradale Campus

SCOPE: To design technology strategy and to support and manage technology based projects at EIT.

KEY TASKS

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Lead the planning and delivery of assigned technical projects at EIT.

• Ensure that the IT Services Project Methodologies are followed.

• Create and manage assigned project plans and associated documentation.

• Run project meetings and complete project documentation including meeting minutes, risk registers and other associated project documentation as required.

• Engage resources to ensure projects can complete against project plans.

• Manage, monitor and report on projects through the project management lifecycle.

• Complete tasks as assigned from the project plan.

ARCHITECTURE

Create and maintain the core source documentation that outlines the information technology architecture for information technology systems at EIT.

Create, update and review information technology architecture documents.

Work with key stakeholders, including IT Staff, business system owners and other interested or related parties to ensure that written information technology architecture documents are fit for purpose and aligned with business strategy.

Engage with other related organisations around architecture, be the voice for EIT’s information technology architecture in appropriate forums.

RELATIONSHIPS

• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

• Build strong relationships with external suppliers.

ADMINISTRATIVE

• Lead, manage and complete the annual IT Services project planning process.

• Take part in planning activities around project selection and planning process.

• Create and run procurement processes as agreed.

• Order equipment within delegation from authorised suppliers as required.

• Create documentation as required.

• Process accounts for payment.

• Organise and/or lead meetings as required.

• Take meeting minutes and complete write up.

• Generate work requests.

TEAM BUILDING

• Attend project meetings as required.

• Actively participate in IT Services meetings.

• Foster information sharing between staff and groups who are using information technology.

• Liaise with the assigned faculties and service sections.

TECHNICAL

• Complete technical work based on Microsoft technologies.

• Deliver technical assistance to facilitate the completion of projects or day to day support.

GENERAL

Perform necessary documentation.

Review own job description annually with line manager and work through appraisal process.

Ensure that all activities reflect the philosophy and procedures of the Institute’s QMS.

Contribute to Corporate Services as a team member and attend Corporate Services Section and other Institute meetings as required.

Negotiate professional development plan with IT Services Manager.

Attend relevant courses to update job skills where required.

Implement Institute policies and procedures as appropriate.

Undertake other duties that may from time to time be agreed with IT Services Manager

Promote a safe IT work environment through compliance with the Institute’s Health and Safety policy and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

14. Strong business and information technology architectural skills ideally from having progressed from a sound technical background

15. Project management skills

16. Methodical and analytical problem-solving skills

17. Strong writing skills – Able to develop business documents to support approval processes

18. Knowledge of tertiary or similar information systems is preferred

19. Good personal management skills and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently

SPECIAL APTITUDES:

20. Excellent communication skills and well developed inter-personal skills

21. Ability to describe complex technical tasks in simple language

22. An ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS:

31. Relevant tertiary qualification and or industry qualifications are preferred
