Assistant Director of Financial Aid (Full-time)

Albany Technical College is seeking a well-qualified, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will serve as an integral senior member of the Financial Aid Office (FAO). The Assistant Director of Financial Aid reports to the Director of Financial Aid and provides secondary leadership to assist the Director and the Financial Aid staff. This position is responsible for interpreting federal and state data as it pertains to the awarding/verification process; assisting students, parents, and internal customers with policies and procedures relating to financial aid; and coordinating all Federal and State aid programs awarding and verification process to secure student aid. This position will learn and provide technical support to assist in the maintenance and support of the Banner Software package. He or she will serve on various committees (i.e.: Enrollment Management, Loan Default Management Team, others) in support of the College Mission and student enrollment services goals.

The ideal candidate must have proven ability to work with diverse groups of internal and external clients, have excellent interpersonal communication skills and have the ability to break larger tasks into manageable smaller tasks. He/she must have project management skills, database management software experience, creative problem solving experience and experience in Banner Financial Aid software. The candidate must be able to adapt to changing work situations and responsibilities, and adapt to changing federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations and policies, have proven ability to make professional presentations with excellent writing and public speaking skills, and utilizing technology tools, on and off campus. The candidate must have the ability and willingness to counsel, advise, disseminate financial aid information, and educate staff and administration. He/she should have good communication skills while utilizing professionalism and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate MUST possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university *AND* have a minimum of two (2) years of work related experience and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, the candidate MUST have two to three (2-3) years’ background in student financial aid administration

Physical Demands: Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting or walking in various settings. Must lift and carry lightweight objects occasionally. Full range of hand and finger motion may be required for data entry purposes.

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
