ASSISTANT DIRECTOR- FINANCIAL AID

FULL TIME GRIFFIN CAMPUS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree *and* a minimum of two years of work related experience. Experience may substitute for degree on a year-to-year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Supervisory experience; Master Degree; Five years of Banner and Financial Aid experience; two years of Direct Student Loan experience; experience processing veteran’s benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the directing of a diverse range of support, operational, and programmatic activities for a technical college or a division of the System Office; Assists the Director in the day-to-day operations of the assigned unit; Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges employees; Observes for accuracy and completeness of appropriate documentation/forms;

Selects and trains management and support staff; Serves as consultant to management on specific problems and concerns; Assists Director in accounting and/or budget development; Identifies training needs and ensures that necessary job-related instruction is provided to staff to facilitate unit productivity; Interprets and utilizes federal, state and local policies and procedures; Maintains accurate files/records; Participates in the planning, coordination, development and implementation of long-range goals and objectives; Attends seminars, conferences, job related training, and/or other staff development training programs. Reads work-related information and materials; Serves on committees as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Ability to pay attention to details; Ability to create a satisfactory resolution to issues; Ability to process information in compliance with state and federal rules, regulations, policies and procedures; Ability to relate well to students, faculty and/or staff; Skill in operating specific computer software programs; Organizational skills to manage simultaneous projects; Oral and written communication skills.
