Sales, Marketing and Distribution Branch

The Sales, Marketing and Distribution Branch is responsible for development and delivery of the marketing program of the Mint, including development and design, marketing communications, tourism and education. The Branch is also responsible for management of the Mint sales program of collectable coins through both retail and wholesale operations. The dispatch function of Logistics also resides within the branch. The numismatic sales program for the Mint is in excess of $26m annually.

Design and Development Section

This Section is responsible for the development, design and delivery of collectible coins and packaging offered for sale in the Mint's numismatic business. It is also responsible for coordinating design and delivery of commemorative circulating coins.

The Team develops approximately 160 products a year, released in line with anniversary dates, revenue expectations, seasonal trends and market demands. High level project management skills, creative flair, multi-tasking and attention to detail are strong core skills required within this team as well as either qualifications or knowledge of Australian history, significant events and commemorations and modern Australian culture.

Individual Role within the Team

This role is responsible for creating, scoping and coordinating the delivery of commercially viable products that appeal to current and potential markets for mid-range and luxury collectibles. You will liaise with relevant departments within the Mint and external suppliers to ensure that the product is produced to schedule and the requirements for various components are sourced to an acceptable standard and within budget. You will support the Product and Project Development Manager in the delivery of major numismatic collectible programs and be a representative for the Mint, on its Shaping Your Collection forum.

Under limited direction: Write new product proposals resulting from product and consumer research including costing calculations, project time lines. Write and submit coin design, packaging design and copy writing briefs that is in line with the direction set by the Creative Director and Product and Project Development Manager. Ensure that all information that appear on the product components and promotional materials are accurate and to the product's theme and specifications. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coin, packaging and presentation material meet required cost, specified standard and delivery dates. Undertake product validation testing and moderate member discussions on the Mint's Shaping Your Collection forum. Contribute to the submission of currency determinations. Contribute to marketing concepts and campaign creation and review of sales figures to determine strategies that deliver sales targets.
