Rita Varner became the director of DLA Distribution Albany, Ga. in September 2009. Her duties also include being the lead Continuing Government Activity specialist for DLA Distribution Albany, Ga. Varner has more than 22 years of distribution experience within the Department of Defense. She began her career in 1986 as a receiving clerk for Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, Ga. One year later, she became the Supply Discrepancy Report clerk in the same section and from there she accepted a position as a supply clerk in the Marine Corps Cataloging Branch. She was then selected as a supervisor in the Receiving Section of the Distribution Branch. Later, she was served as the Customer Service representative for DLA Distribution Albany, Ga. in the Operations Division. She was then promoted to Distribution Facilities specialist, and later became a Distribution Facilities manager in the Warehousing Division at DLA Distribution Albany, Ga. During the A-76 study, she became the functional team lead for the development of the Management Plan. At the conclusion of the study, she became the accountable officer for the program. Before assuming her current position, Varner served as the deputy commander for DLA Distribution Albany, Ga. for more than six years.
