Columbus City Schools Spruce Run Outdoor Educational Center Field TripDear Parents/Guardians, On Monday, May 2nd, Mrs. Piper’s 7th grade science classes at Dominion Middle School are taking a fieldtrip to Spruce Run Environmental Education Center for the purpose of mastering our Life Science standards. We will be going by school bus. Our departure for Spruce Run will be at approximately 9:30 am. We will arrive back at Dominion at approximately 1:00 pm. Lunch will be eaten at Spruce Run Training Center. Please have your child pack a brown bag lunch and include a beverage in an unbreakable container. Your child may also request a packed lunch from our school’s cafeteria.Spruce Run is a nature preserve. Please remind your child of the following rules: allow the plants and animals to continue to live and grow - - do not pick flowers or disturb the animals. Stay on the trails and with an adult at all times. We will also follow the Boy Scouts’ guidelines of “Leave No Trace”. This means we will take only pictures and leave only footprints. We will visit Spruce Run whether it rains or shines. Please have your child wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Walking shoes and long pants are necessary for the hike. An old pair of tennis shoes and an extra pair of socks may be brought in a plastic bag for the stream study. Please sign the form at the bottom of this letter and have your child return it to school tomorrow.
