Re: Bi- Weekly Memo #2

This memo is for Michael Bokor. In this memo I will discuss my opinions of the course, the activities we have done, and some of our assignments.

My Opinions of English 145.13

So far, the course seems pretty structured. It has been easy to complete assignments due to the fact that we spend a lot of time working on our assignments in class. The class website is especially helpful. It presents what is expected to be accomplished during class in an organized manner. Also the website is easy to access which makes it possible for me to complete the reading assignments that are linked from the website. Also, there are no distractions during class which makes it possible for me to stay on task and complete my assignments. Michael is also helpful when giving advice on specific assignments.

Class Activities

Some of the activities we have done include:

• Class discussions

1. On Monday, September 10, Monica, Fareeba, Carolyn, and Robert discussed important aspects of resumes. Everyone did an excellent job explaining the articles that they read. Further, Carolyn even created a worksheet for us to fill out. The purpose of the worksheet was to help us decide if we should use a functional resume or a chronological resume.

• Peer revisions

1. On Monday, August 27, we did our first peer revisions on our Learning Contracts.

2. Matt Decrevel revised my Learning Contract. He did a great job. He gave me insightful feedback that helped me strengthen certain parts of my contract.

3. I also revised Matt’s Learning Contract. I had not revised another person’s paper in a long time. However, I believe I helped him to strengthen his contract as he did for me.

Class Assignments

Some of the assignments we have done include:

• Learning Contract

1. The Learning Contract was our first assignment. In it we have to state our goals, strategies for achieving those goals, and our expectations of the instructor. This assignment has taken a lot of time to complete and perfect. We have had both peer and instructor revisions. However, I forgot to email my Learning Contract to Michael for him to revise. It is a mistake that I will not make again and one that I hope will not affect my grade or much.

• Resume

1. This week we have started work on our resumes. Currently we are just brainstorming ideas and gathering information.

2. We had to read some articles that were posted online. The articles gave information on how to construct a proper resume and cover letter. The articles were then discussed in class by specific peer leaders.

So far things have been going great for me in this course. Other than forgetting to e-mail my Learning Contract, I have stayed on track and completed my assignments. I am looking forward to getting started on my resume. It will be challenging but it is a great assignment that will benefit me a lot in the future. Also, I will continue to check the course website for assignment due dates, course activities, and assignment information.

Comments: Certainly, thjis document is successful at almost all the levesl. I like the introductory paragraph, which is short and effective. Your use of the techniques has enhanced your communication and made it possible for me to access your message within the shortest possible time. The conclusion is equally good. Great job, Brad. Grade: A.
