In English, the tense of a verb indicates whether something happens in the past, present or the future. The mood of a verb shows the manner or mode in which a thought is expressed. There are different types of verb mood:

• Interrogative mood expresses a question. Are you still interested in buying that car?

• Imperative mood expresses a command or request. Come out here right away.

• Indicative mood expresses a statement of fact, or that something is happening in reality. I have piano lessons every Wednesday at 5:30.

• Conditional mood expresses that an outcome is dependent upon a condition being fulfilled. If I were in Paris, I would visit the Eiffel Tower.

• Subjunctive mood explores a hypothetical situation or expresses a wish, suggestion, or demand. I propose that you invite Alec to your party.
