Jesus Said We Can Conquer The ENEMIES OF OUR FAITH:

Worry….Doubt….Fear….

Three Enemies Of Our Faith

Luke 12:22 - 32

Luke 12:22-32

22Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. 24Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? 25And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 26If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? 27Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?

29“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. 30For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.

32“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Introduction:

1. Have you ever noticed the calm assurance of Jesus?

(1) He never became worried or doubtful.

(2) He never expressed anxiety over his personal needs.

(3) He always knew what to do.

2. Why? How could He be so calm?

(1) Because He trusted fully and completely in his heavenly father.

3. Jesus’ faith in God the Father was without flaw – However, He realized our weaknesses.

(1) He tried to teach us how to trust God – The Heavenly Father – also…

(2) He knew that we would be faced with enemies to destroy and weaken

our faith.

Page 2

In our text, Jesus deals with three strong enemies of our faith and how we can defeat them.

Enemy # 1 – Worry!

Do Not Worry; It Will Not Solve Anything!

1. Most of our worries are totally unwarranted.

2. Ninety-nine percent of those things we worry about never come

to pass.

3. Many of our worries are concerned with temporal things.

Luke 12:22 & 23 … 22Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

4. The words in the KJV are “take no thought” in verses 22, 25, & 26.

They are the same in Phil. 4:6 “be careful for nothing.”

(meaning - Do Not Worry)

5. Worry is destructive.

o It never leads to a solution.

o It accomplishes nothing.

[High blood pressure; Headache; Ulcers; Fatigue; Depression; etc.]

(1) According to verse 25 you cannot add to your height by dwelling

on it.

(2) Actually … you shouldn’t worry about things you cannot change

– as your height, your looks, who you are, etc.

[Scripture on next page]

Luke 12:24 – 27

24Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?

25And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

26If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? 27Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

(3) God is able to supply your EVERY NEED!

Luke 12:28 If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?

Enemy # 2 - Doubt!

Do Not Live In Doubt; God Knows Your Need!

1. Leave earthly things In God’s hands.

Luke 12:29 & 30

29“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.

30For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things.

Page 4

2. “Doubtful Mind” = Up In The Air

Actually means to be uncertain or in suspense

3. Too many are “Up In The Air” about things

4. Jesus tells us here that we shouldn’t be of a “doubtful mind” but

trust God. Make Him first and everything else takes care of

itself….

Luke 12:31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.

[pic]

Enemy # 3 – Fear!

Do Not Live In Fear; God Wants To Bless You!

1. God …. knows your need

He is able to supply your need

He desires to supply you need

Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

2. “Fear Not” = “Stop Being Afraid”

3. Don’t Fear; God Wants To Bless You……

4. The basis of our faith is the fact that God cares for us and wants

to bless us

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.

Psalm 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
