Dear Parents,

Next week, Birchview students will begin participating in The

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Annual Pennies for

Patients® program, a community service project where students

donate their spare change to fund blood cancer research and

patient aid programs.

You can empty your coin jar, clean out those couch

cushions and check your pockets for Pennies for Patients! Each

student will be receiving a coin collector to bring in their donations.

Donations will be accepted at any point between March 9th and

March 13th.

Students will be watching an informational video in class to help

introduce Pennies for Patients as well as inform kids about Leukemia

and Lymphoma. We also suggest parents go to:

to watch the same video their child

saw; plus get much more information about leukemia, lymphoma and

myeloma, along with hearing about blood cancers

from some patients themselves, in their own words.

Student Council will also be sponsoring a spirit week

with daily fun days to raise both money and awareness.

We suggest a donation of $1 per day to participate.

The following fun days will take place beginning March 9th:

Monday: Superhero Day – bring donations for heroes and dress

up like your favorite superhero

Tuesday: Twining Tuesday- bring in matching donations and wear matching outfits

Wednesday: Team Up to Fight Cancer - donate to wear sports team gear

Thursday: Moustache Day – we “moustache” you to donate funds for Leukemia

and Lymphoma. Students can purchase $1 moustaches from their teacher this day.

Friday: Hats for Heroes - anyone who donates today can wear a hat

Along with spare change, you can also send checks payable to LLS

or Pennies for Patients. This is the foruth consecutive year Birchview has

Participated in Pennies For Patients. To date, we have raised over

$16,000 for blood cancer research and patient aid. Every donation,

no matter how small, can make a difference. Remember, every penny

counts!

For more information, contact our school coordinators Scott Sykes and Renee Wenberg at 763-745-5374 or Kelly from LLS at Kelly.Fegley@, (763) 852-3043 or mn.
