Both Students and Staff

Once you're able to log in to the Microsoft site, the view will be quite similar whether you're a student or staff member (though these are two separate areas). But MHCC staff will not see web/phone/tablet apps for Outlook (Mail, Calendar, People, Tasks) since staff uses full Outlook 2013 or Intranet web Outlook.

Option 1: Use Office Online (cloud-based versions of MS Office)

The web/phone/tablet app versions of Office don't include all the commands of

the entire programs (call them "Office lite"), but they are quite useable for those

Students must log in at least once every 180 days (don't just forward) to keep your account active. Currently, your Saints Email/Office account will continue after leaving MHCC, but it's Microsoft's choice to not limit/limit to active students in the future.

Hot Tip

If you want to keep track of Saints email or staff email on a smartphone, download Microsoft Outlook from Android/Apple store, and choose Outlook Exchange. Enter Saints email or staff login + password. Problems? Check settings for your device from Phone and Tablet Setup Reference at mhcc.edu/YourEmail.aspx.

Things to know about the Web Apps:

o Click square navigation grid in upper left of screen to see web apps. o The very first time you click on a web app such as Word or PowerPoint

Online, you are forced to step through a little wizard from Microsoft. Then, click the web app again and everything should load as expected. o You don't need to Save, as the web app automatically saves everything you're working on to OneDrive . . . o This means you need to name your files as you type, or you risk finding a lot of files in OneDrive named Document 1, 2, 3, to infinity . . . o Later, you can rename, delete, make folders, etc. in OneDrive. o You can share your files and editing priveleges with others. o Let's say you want to open a file in PowerPoint Online that was created in the desktop version of PowerPoint. You'll first need to save that file to the computer (Desktop or Documents is fine), then go to OneDrive and upload the file. Then, you can open it from OneDrive. o On a computer with Office? Switch between web app and full MS Office. o Own an i-OS or Android phone/tablet? Download MS Office apps. Enter Saints email (students) or your Office 365 staff account (as detailed prior). You can only use the "lite" version of MS Office on these devices.

Hot Tip

See an error message when you try to click on an Office Web app? From your two options, choose "OneDrive for Business". The web app should now load.

Option 2: Install MS Office 365 on Your Personal Computer (for free)
