Debugging AdCefWebBrowser
Debugging AdCefWebBrowserFusion 360 on Windows uses a component named AdCefWebBrowser for embedded web workflows. This is based on Google Chromium and is usually reliable, however problems have been seen on a couple of systems, so this document contains information on investigating the component.Required Tools - Process MonitorThis utility is able to monitor low level Windows calls made by specific processes and can be used to discover issues or irregularities on specific computers. The simplest way to use this tool is to use the Run Process Monitor link, or it is possible to download and install the tool from Process MonitorFirst, ensure that Fusion 360 is closed, then setup Process Monitor as detailed below.When first launched, Process Monitor will show a ‘Process Monitor Filter’ window, which allows control over the data to be captured. To capture information for Fusion 360’s embedded web browser, add a filter to include events where the Process Name is AdCefWebBrowser.exe as shown in Figure 1.Figure 1 - Process Monitor FilterThen close this dialog with OK (answer Yes if prompted to Add the item)Once the dialog is closed, launch Fusion 360, if configured correctly, a large amount of data will appear in the Process Monitor window, similar to the image in Figure 2. Figure 2 - Data Captured using Process MonitorIf this isn’t seen, then click on the Filter icon and make sure it is configured as shown in Figure 3.020002500Figure 3 - Filter IconOnce data is being captured, confirm that the unexpected behavior of Fusion 360 has been reproduced, and then use the File menu in Process Monitor to Save details of the events as a PML file as shown in Figure 4, this file can be sent to the Fusion 360 support team to aid investigation.
