DIRECT SERVICE WORKER
Medication Administration Training Program
? 20-hour, non-credit course ? Medication Administration Course?16 hrs ? Vital Signs?4 hrs ? Competency Evaluation: 25 question written
competency exam at end of training & required competency skills check-off for vital signs and medication pass ? $200 per participant ? Class size: 10-15 students
A certificate of completion provided at successful conclusion of the course.
QUALIFICATIONS/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
? Must be at least 18 years of age, employed as a Direct Service Worker and recommended by a licensed Louisiana DHH Direct Service Provider.
? Must have the ability to read, write and carry out directions competently as assigned and have completed the DSW Basic Curriculum (16 hour) required course prior to enrolling in the Medication Administration Course.
? Employment by the recommending Direct Service Provider is a requirement for course enrollment and completion.
? Registry Status ? Must be free of any DHH finding that the DSW has abused or neglected an individual being supported, or misappropriated the individual's property or funds. The Direct Service Worker Registry website is . com. If there is such a finding on the DHH registry, the prospective student is not eligible for the course and DHH Health Standards Section should be notified of finding by college/campus.
? If the Direct Service Worker has a finding placed against him/her on the DSW Registry during the training course, he/she will be terminated from course.
