The site contains number of interactive games, stories and resources that have been developed to help emerging readers learn to read. The site can be used at school or at home. The resources are freely accessible.



Learn English Kids has lots of free online games, songs, stories and activities for children to have fun and learn English too. There is also a section for teenagers, teachers and parents.



This site has lots of free resources for young children particularly in the area of literacy and math. There are also links to ideas for teaching sight words which may be helpful.



This site describes a number of instructional approaches that teachers may use in their teaching, from direct instruction including explicit teaching and drill & practice to experiential learning such as narratives, field trips and focused imaging.

This site deals with teaching the words on the Dolch list. There are plenty of resources free to download such as Dolch words, and Dolch phrases. There are also many games and activities to support the teaching of the Dolch words.

Free Probe sheets can be generated with anything from 4 to 24 words on them – teachers can select the words an individual or a class needs to focus on. Teachers just type the words/ sounds/ letters/ number facts into preformatted spreadsheets which you download from the website. The words are then duplicated randomly into the rest of the sheet.

This is a precision teaching package and can be downloaded free. It contains lists of word to be learnt as sight vocabulary, it is more appropriate for older pupils. The word lists include essential curriculum words plus irregular words that often confuse students.
