DESCRIPTION

This presentation will provide an overview of NYCBC Appendix K, Chapter K3 which outlines retroactive requirements for existing elevators including door lock monitoring. ANSI A10.4 will be discussed informing attendees about requirements for adding extensions to personnel hoists. Additionally attendees will learn about various safety issues arising from maintaining and working on conveying devices.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this presentation, you will be able to: 1. Participants will examine NYCBC Appendix K Chapter

K3 to identify retroactive requirements for existing elevators including door lock monitoring requirements. 2. Participants will discuss ANSI A10.4 and be able to summarize requirements for Personnel Hoist cab extensions. 3. Participants will be able to list requirements for load weighing devices on passenger and freight elevators. 4. Participants will analyze common causes of minor elevator/escalator accidents and remedies.
