All in favor. Read mission and purpose.Welcome/Introductions/AnnouncementsAngela organized an activity: each attendee identified their area of service and population served. There is no representations from East County.Name activity: passed a ball around to learn everyone's name. Ellen announced that Angie Garling will be transitioning out of her role.Zoom meeting is an option in case a member cannot attend physically.Hold March 13th to celebrate Angie. There will be a chance to say goodbye to Angie at the March 15th Steering Committee meeting.Background and overview of QRIS in Alameda CountyAngela shared a video and PowerPoint detailing the history of QRIS in Alameda County. Tanya shared that Alameda County had a quality program first, then ratings.There is a change in the Infant/Toddler block grant. There will now be a grant that is less, but still able to cover programs that do not qualify for state grants.100,000 children are currently being served by QRIS, some sites that support children with special needs do not participate, CLASS and ERS assessments are challenging in Inclusive settings.The video and PowerPoint would be helpful to share.More information about the grant will be shared.Report Out Quality Counts Leadership meetingSujata shared information about the Quality Counts Leadership meeting, naming attendees. Darlene shared that there are different needs across the county.The Quality Counts policies and procedures manual will soon be finalized.Will the manual reflect these diverse needs?Why are we here?Angela organized “The Hero’s Journey” activity. We want to keeps the story in mind in our work.Heroes: providers, children, families, CA, etc.Guides: QC, QC advisory committee, teachers, etc.Caves (challenges): $, overworked workforce, diverse needs, etc.Treasures (goals): quality, supported workforce, equity, etc.LaWanda had attendees share topic ideas for upcoming symposiums. The target audience is providers and potentially families.Themes: Advocacy, staff training/retention, work/life balance, and traumaLaWanda will synthesize the shared topics and report out next meeting.Analysis of the budget trailer bill language-Review and approval of AB212 plan FY19-20The proposal: the plan should stay the same as last year since changes are upcoming for FY20-21. Motion made to approve. All in favor.“Priorities” should be changed to “requirements” to avoid confusion about who can participant in AB212.Next steps & AdjournUpcoming events:Neva and LaWanda are organizing the California Mentorship program for ECE teachers.On October 5th, City of Oakland in partnership with other organizations will host the Early Learning’s conference topic: Powerful InteractionsThe fatherhood summit on March 16thHappy Hour for Angie on March 13th Share information about events.
