FIRST DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSIONER OF BANGLADESH IN MUMBAI

            Government of India has conveyed its concurrence to the appointment of Ms. Samina Naz as the first Deputy High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Mumbai. The Deputy High Commission will have consular jurisdiction over the States of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Goa and Union Territories of Puducherry and Daman and Diu. The decision to open a new Deputy High Commission in Mumbai is in pursuance of the agreement reached between the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh as reflected in the Joint Communiqué issued during the visit of Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of People’s Republic of Bangladesh to India in January, 2010.

2.        With the opening of the new Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, Bangladesh will have four diplomatic representations in India - New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and a Visa Office in Agartala.
