2020 Scholarship Application

The Kansas Contractors Association is offering scholarships ranging from $500 up to $2,500 for any student enrolled or intending to enroll for the 2020/2021 school year, in a construction management, construction science, construction engineering technology or related field of study at an accredited Kansas university, community college or technical college.

A. Eligibility ? Enrolled or intending to enroll in a Kansas university, community college or technical college for

the 2020/2021 school year. ? Applicant must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a degree related to a career in construction. ? Eligible students: Students earning a Bachelor's degree must have completed a minimum of 2

years of study in the related field. Students seeking an Associate degree or Certificate are eligible upon high school graduation.

B. Requirements

Applicant is responsible for ensuring that all the following items are received as one packet by the KCA office prior to February 14, 2020:

? Completed program application (2 pages). ? Letters of recommendation to accompany the recommendation forms(2). ? Copy of the applicant's official college transcript. ? Essay titled: Why I Should Receive the KCA Scholarship? ? Signed original of Scholarship Terms and Conditions.

C. Awards ? The number and dollar amount of awards will be determined by the KCA Construction Education

Foundation committee. ? All applications are reviewed by the KCA Construction Education Foundation committee. ? Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient's college or university in their name for

disbursement.

A. Essay

Please submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words stating why you are deserving of the KCA Construction Education Foundation scholarship. Please highlight any circumstances that you believe would help the members of the selection committee in evaluating your application. Feel free to indicate financial need, academics or interest in the construction industry that might distinguish you from other applicants.

B. Letters of Recommendation (form included)

Two letters of recommendation that should be included with the application in separate sealed envelopes. Letters of recommendation should include the following:

1. How long they have known the applicant? 2. In what capacity are they familiar with the applicant's education and background? 3. Why they believe the applicant would be a good candidate to receive the scholarship?

C. Checklist

1. Completed Program Application (2 pages). 2. Completed Recommendation Forms (2). 3. Enclosed Letters of Recommendation (2). 4. Completed and enclosed the Scholarship Essay. 5. Enclosed official college transcripts. 6. Enclosed a signed copy of the Terms and Conditions. 7. Signed and Dated application.

I HAVE READ THE SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES AND UNDERSTAND THAT, IF I AM SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP:

1. I will be a student enrolled at the named university or college for the period stated in the application;

2. Monies will paid directly to my college/university in my name by the KCA; 3. I will ensure the funds received from the KCA are applied toward expenses associated

with my education or internship including (but not limited to): tuition, books, housing, other necessary fees or expenses required by the college/university and 4. I will consent and authorize the use of my name and photo to the KCA for promotional purposes.
