H.E. President John Dramani Mahama rightly points out that it is due to determination and focus, can we make surmounting achievements. In two weeks’ time the Summit of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation will be held in Johannesburg South Africa. Chinese President Xi Jinping and African leaders including H.E. President Johon Dramani Mahama will convene under the theme “China-Africa Progressing Together: Win-Win Cooperation for Common Development. I happen to be a very lucky person in witnessing the growth of FOCAC and have personally attended all the five ministerial conferences and one summit held so far.FOCAC has never been a talk shop but a key platform for collective dialogue and effective cooperation between China and African countries. The major follow-up actions initiated and implemented are highly commended. When you link the surging China-Ghana bilateral trade, more grant projects on poverty reduction and improvement of people’s well-being, increased investment, human resources development, cultural exchanges...... all these together, one will observe with satisfaction that China-Africa cooperation has been constantly enriched and strengthened under the guidance of FOCAC, covering broader areas and involving more diversified participants. At the 2006 FOCAC Beijing Summit, China and Africa established a new type of strategic partnership featuring political equality and mutual trust, win-win economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, thus turning a new page in China-Africa friendly cooperation. The FOCAC Johannesburg Summit this year is the first ever on African Continent. China will use this opportunity to put forward a series of new proposals to strengthen win-win cooperation with Africa in five priority areas of industrialization, agricultural modernization, public health, cultural and people-to-people exchanges as well as peace and security. I am very confident that this Johannesburg Summit of FOCAC will push China Africa friendly cooperation to a new high.Your Excelleny President, Ladies and Gentlemen, China will always remain Ghana’s trustworthy friend and sincere partner. I expect more cooperation results in the future.Thank you! ................
