You deserve it.As of this minute we have a total of 247 admitted patients (223 PUIs and 31 Confirmed Cases)LA County DHP issued a Health Alert (see attached)The Women & Children’s Institute developed COVID19 Clinical Management Guidelines (see attached) Many of us, including those on this email, are getting information about potential suppliers of PPE (see attached forms required). Please send any leads pertaining to the Sourcing of PPE and other critical COVID-19 supplies to the Contract Services team at COVIDsupplies@PPEI can’t stress enough the importance of conserving our PPE and to be active participant in the reprocessing program offered by Medline. We stand a chance to increase our mask volume by 1M masks if we all recycle. Think about the impact we can all make together! I know I can count on you to educate everyone in the importance to recycle. I am sure that many of you have noticed an article written by Dr. Gawande suggesting a universal mask approach. We are seriously considering this model. That said, in order to implement this model we MUST ensure that we have enough PPE. We are extremely confident that we will be able to achieve such status in the future. Additionally, you asked and we listened. Since March 20, 2020, non-hospital provided face masks (personal masks) are now permitted. Please use the following talking points when discussing with caregivers:??If a caregiver chooses to wear a mask, it will not be hospital provided, unless a patient’s condition warrants hospital provided-PPE.Non-hospital provided face masks have not been reviewed/fitted for optimal protection, safety or effectiveness in protection from infection.Non-hospital provided N95s have not met Fit Testing requirements and may give a false sense of security. If you choose to bring a mask to wear, the following guidelines must be adhered to:You must remove your (personal) mask prior to entering an isolation room. You must ONLY wear hospital approved/provided PPE in ALL isolation rooms per policy and procedure.Your personal mask is not to be worn under the PAPR hood when caring for patients with airborne precautions.NO MASKS are to be worn under the PAPR hood at any time.??Your personal mask (fabric or other material) must be tasteful, professional and in alignment with our core values. (Cartoon images will NOT be permitted.)As a reminder, effective immediately, those that did NOT receive a flu shot are NOT to wear hospital approved/providedThe southern California Physician Enterprise team is focusing on three main areas in response to COVID:Development of fever/COVID screening clinicsDeployment of telehealth including conversion of in-person appointments to telehealth appointmentsConsolidation of medical offices in response to the deployment of telehealth and conservation of physicians, caregivers, and resourcesCOVID screening drive through clinics:All seven of our medical groups have implemented or are planning to implement COVID screening drive through clinicsClinic locations: Facey Medical Group (Mission Hills, Valencia [opening soon]), St. Johns (Santa Monica), St. Mary’s (Hesperia [opening today]), Mission Heritage (Mission Viejo [opening today]), St. Joseph Heritage (Chapman, Orange), and St. Jude Heritage (Yorba Linda), PMA (TBD)Clinics are currently open to medical group patients only as we have limited capacityOur hope is to expand services to better serve our communities in the coming weeksTestingIn House lab testing.
