-63500165100Greetings Guilford Families,?We wanted to take a moment and thank you for supporting our students at the Mall Show where student art work was exhibited. Your presence at Art Night further impacted our artists as they were able to engage in some very creative activities. We all had fun!In two weeks we will be celebrating our staff during Staff Appreciation Week. We wanted to give you prior notice and invite you to join us in this endeavor. Please take a moment and with your child to coin a note of appreciation or send a token of appreciation to our staff. We elected to expand the week from Teacher Appreciation Week to Staff Appreciation week. Guilford has a staff of 99 adults that make what you see possible. Albeit the varied roles and responsibilities, our?staff members help to maintain the school environment so that it is clean, attractive, responsive to student needs, and accessible to you, our community. Our staff assists in reducing the ratio of student to adults for instruction, mentoring, or guidance. Our staff spends tireless hours planning and talking about students for our better good. Alone with your efforts and that of Guilford staff, our students are successful. Many staff members never see that note of appreciation from our community. So take on this challenge... send in a note to either an individual, or a team, thanking them for all that they do. Our teams are listed below:Grade Level Teams (grades K-5)Special Education TeamRelated Arts Team ( art, media, PE, Technology, Vocal Music, Instrumental music)Custodial StaffRelated Services Team ( Guidance, Psychologist, Interventionists, Alternative Ed)Administrative Team ( Secretaries, Administrators)Lunch & Recess MonitorsParaeducators ( grade level and specialty area support staff)Genée Varlack, Ed.D Connie StahlerPrincipal Assistant PrincipalLast Day of School - The HCPSS is adjusting the school year calendar by two additional days. The last day of school for students and staff will now be Friday, June 20th. Additionally, all schools will close three hours early Wednesday, June 18th through Friday, June 20th, with no Pre-K/RECC. Five inclement weather make up days were built into the 2013-2014 school calendar. Schools were closed nine instructional days due to weather. The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) allowed school systems to request waivers of up to five instructional days from the 180-day state requirement. HCPSS applied for a waiver of four days, but modified the request to two days after MSDE denied waiver requests from several other school systems. The revised request stipulated extending the school year in June by two additional days. -6286587249061093356985Jump Rope for Heart Prizes The prizes for students raising $15.00 or more in this year's Jump Rope for Heart event arrived over spring break and have been distributed (except for the trophy ducks.)?
