This is because many children find understanding time and reading clocks difficult at school with practise clocks and other resources and so might need a lot of support. Children grasp time at different speeds. When I go into school on Wednesday I will get the large teaching clocks we have to bring home so I can make videos for the children to watch, but until then I will do my best to explain it via the use of pictures on the PowerPoint. Today’s lesson looks at o’clock and half past and goes into detail on what each hand represents and how minutes are smaller than hours, and hours are smaller than days etc. The extra challenge involves drawing hands on clocks themselves. There is a link to a teaching clock that might help with the children’s understanding of how the minute and hour hands move as time progresses. Just remember to reset it back to 12 O’clock before you start.History/topic (45 Minutes)To research a famous and significant woman in historyToday’s lesson involves an independent research task that we would normally do on the iPads in school.
