Next weekend Feb 1st & 2nd is the Feast of St Bridgid & the Presentation of the Lord. We will celebrate the usual blessing of Candles (for use in the church and at home) St Bridgid Crosses and also the blessing of Throats as we approach the Feast of St Blaize as part of our weekend Masses.

The Confirmation Class had a wonderful Retreat at Ballintubber Abbey last Monday Jan. 20th. Congrats & thanks to everyone who made it such a great experience. Please continue to keep them in your special prayer intentions. The Ceremony will be in St Mary’s Church, Partry Friday Feb 14th @ 1p.m

St. Brigid: A woman for our Times.

An evening of reflection, ritual and sharing on the life of St. Brigid will take place in the Sisters of Mercy residence, Árd Bhríde, Lawn Road, Castlebar on Thursday 30th January starting at 7.30 pm. As part of a Road Safety Campaign for 2014 by Mayo County Council , a Roadsafe Road Show will be held in the Travellers Friend Hotel, Castlebar on Thursday 6th February 2014 in partnership with AXA insurance. The Roadshow will begin at 10.45am sharp and run for 90 minutes.

The show is essentially for the benefit for students aged 18-24 years old. Each Secondary School Principal has been notified of the Road Show, with a view to the Transition Year students attending the show and also students attending youth reach centres and third level colleges.

The Show will be delivered by a Garda, a Paramedic, a Fire Officer, an A & E consultant, a mother of a Victim, a road traffic accident victim and a undertaker.

Well known Irish dramatist and author Brian Friel’s play “Dancing at Lughnasa” will be staged in Halla Tourmakeady, Tourmakeady on Friday 7th March 2014 with the Kilmeena Drama Group.

Tuar Mhic Éadaigh GAA club are hosting a Monster 25 card drive on Saturday night, the 22nd February 2014; commencing at 9.00pm sharp in Maire Lukes. 1st Prize – €200.00 to winning pair!
