|This position serves as an Employment & Outreach Coordinator for the Michigan International Talent Solutions (MITS) program, and performs a full range of |
|professional research and analysis duties. This position is responsible for analyzing current employment methods and for assisting the Manager with the |
|development of best practices and resources to educate business owners about skilled immigrants and the benefits of hiring such individuals. This position is |
|responsible for developing and implementing an array of surveys, preparing reports, meeting with immigrants, companies and executives. This position, in |
|consultation with IT, is also responsible for creating databases and making recommendations for web page information. |

|This position is responsible for a variety of professional duties regarding providing support to MITS program participants and assisting the manager in working|
|with immigrants and companies to remove barriers to placing immigrants in positions. This will involve a variety of tasks listed below. |
|Individual tasks related to the duty. |
|Support assigned job seeker pool, which may be aligned with one or more professional sectors |
|Provide customized, one-on-one coaching to high-skilled immigrants to support them in the professional job search process, including but not limited to resume |
|revision, application support, interview preparation, and salary negotiations |
|Meet with job seekers after online training completion for an initial meeting focused on developing a foundation resume, creating an overall job search |
|strategy, and to ensure they are aware of additional training opportunities and tools available through the MITS program and related services |
|For job seekers who don’t meet our criteria, communicate in an empathetic manner and provide alternative resources if available |
|Strategically utilize the volunteer/mentor network to support job placement for MITS participants |
|Keep manager informed of progress of individual immigrants that they are working with and take issues to the manager as necessary |

| 25. What is the function of the work area and how does this position fit into that function? |
|The Michigan Office for New Americans (MONA) supports immigrant and refugee integration initiatives for the state. It works with state agencies that provide |
|services to immigrants and refugees and tries to minimize or eliminate barriers to accessing those state services. MONA analyzes and makes recommendations to |
|the Governor on state and federal policies and programs. MONA partners closely with refugee resettlement agencies, economic development organizations, ethnic |
|service providers, universities, our state Ethnic Commissions, and many other organizations around the state. Additionally, it strives to make Michigan a more|
|welcoming state. MONA’s work touches the areas of licensing, workforce development, education, housing, healthcare, and quality of life. |
|The MITS program is housed within MONA. The program works with eligible work-authorized individuals who are unemployed or underemployed and works with them to|
|get them into jobs that better fit their skillset. The work of the MITS program fits within MONA’s efforts around workforce development and occupational |
|licensing. |
|This specific position serves as the Employment & Outreach Coordinator for the MITS program. It is a critical function to the work that MONA does for |
|immigrant/refugee workforce development. |
