ACT Persuasive Writing Essay Practice Tests

1) Go to

2) Click Test and Tutorials (GED, ACT, Careers, etc.) on the left side of the page.

3) It should say Welcome to Learning Express Library! If you have never used MEL, click on Register under New Users and go to step four. If you have used MEL before, then login normally to the homepage and skip to step five.

4) NEW USERS:

Register with the following items

Username: first initial, last name, birthyear

Mr. Becker would be mbecker1986

Password: make your password your 8 digit birthday

Mr. Becker’s would be 02091986 (For February 9th, 1986)

Email: IT IS NOT REQUIRED-IGNORE IT!

If you are doing this at home, you will need to enter your (or a parent’s) driver’s license number. If you are doing this on a school computer, this is not required.

5) On the left side of the page, click College Preparation

6) Click ACT Preparation

7) A drop down menu appears. Click ACT Reading Practice Tests

8) Choose one of the four text options from the drop box (Test 1, Test 2, Test 3, or Test 4) and click Add to My Center on the right side of the box (green arrow).

9) Locate My Center on the top right of the screen and click it.

10) You will see whichever test you picked in your ‘center.’ Click Start.

11) When you click start, the test begins. Take your test and type it into the open field towards the bottom of the page. The topic is in the shaded box at the top. You have 30:00 Minutes to complete the test.

12) Check all of your answers for the questions, and click Skip This Answer For Now to move on. You will be given the opportunity to come back and answer unanswered questions when you are finished.

13) When finished, click Next Page. Follow this with Score My Test. When a Score Report page appears, print this score report page.

14) After you have printed your score page, click on View My Answers.

15) On your score page, write a reflection about how well you actually did compared to how well you think you would do. Record some metacognitive thoughts about taking this test. If you want to be extra sassy, do another one and see how you do.

16) Turn in just this score sheet and your reflection about taking this test you’re your name clearly labeled on it.
