DUELING STREAKS -- Homer, MI, (above) holds the record for most consecutive baseball wins as the Orioles won 75 games during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Homer set the record June 4, 2005 with a victory over Union City in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division III district championship, and then the streak ended June 22 with a loss to Saginaw (Michigan) Nouvel Catholic High School in the MHSAA championship game. While Homer was racking up consecutive wins, so was Albuquerque La Cueva, NM. Beginning in 2002 and ending in 2005, La Cueva won 70 consecutive games and briefly held the national record before Homer surpassed it. The 2005 team (below) set the record and won the New Mexico Activities Association Class 5A state championship.

Tribe baseball has amassed 31 conference titles, 23 district titles, 21 state tournament appearances, four state runnerup finishes and two state championships. The Indians also rank highly on the all-time basketball wins list.

ILLINOIS HITS -- Edwardsville, IL, tied the sixth-longest winning streak in high school boys baseball history when it won 64 games in a row during the 1990 and 1991 seasons. BASE PATH TO SUCCESS -- The 1986 Kellyville, OK, baseball team ranks as one of the best in prep history when it comes to running the bases. Kellyville finished the 1986 season with 291 stolen bases, which is good enough to rank seventh on the all-time list. One of the key players who contributed to the stolen base production of the Maroon & Gray Ponies baseball team was Floyd Webb. Webb is listed in two individual base-running categories in the National High School Sports Record Book.
