Since then he has traveled extensive to Norway to undertake various woodcarving projects. In 2006 he carved a stave church panel at the Borgund Stave Church in Laerdal, Norway. In 2010 he was hired by the New Oseberg Ship Foundation, Tonsberg, Norway, to be the lead carver in the making of a replica of the Oseberg Ship using only Viking age tools and techniques. Since then, he has returned many times to undertake various carving jobs.

Consider wearing an old apron or oversized painting shirt. The paints used in the class are water based and non-toxic and can be cleaned up with soap and water. Example of the project is shown below.

Terri Stegmiller loves creating!  Her brain always seems to be working on something and the thrill of successfully interpreting an idea into art is what makes this journey a fulfilling one.

Terri’s creative journey has taken different paths along the way.  She started quilting in the mid 1990s and it wasn’t long before she decided that traditional quilting wasn’t quite her thing. When she discovered art quilting and mixed media work, she was very intrigued and started learning all she could and trying out all kinds of techniques. Art quilting became her passion and she continues to create art quilts today.

Along with creating art quilts, she also enjoy the following creative activities:

• Traditional quilting

• Sewing unique, one-of-a-kind quilted handbags and totes

• Weaving — hand towels, scarves, table runners

• Painting

• Designing — stencils and Thermofax screens

• Surface design on fabric

• Dyeing — fabric, wool fiber, and yarn

• Spinning

On a personal note…she is happily married to a wonderfully supportive husband, she has a son and daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.  She’s from Mandan, North Dakota and lives on a 10-acre spot of land where she love to garden, bird watch, and receive constant inspiration from the antics of her cats.
