Good morning Beech and Sycamore!I hope you are all doing well?Today we are looking again at Jack and the Beanstalk.Literacy;Yesterday we looked at the characters ,what did they look like, their names, their part in the story…listen to the story again to refresh you and your child’s memory.Today we are taking this a step forward with this. We are looking at the going to build your favourite place in the story. (Adults you may need blankets, washing line, clothes pegs, inside or out your choice )Will you build Jacks house, the Giants castle, the beanstalk (maybe this could be the stairs if you have any?)One you have built your ‘scene’ have a think about what it looks like, who lives here do they like it, what’s do they see when they look out their window, what noises do you hear, don’t forget to think or the story!Once you have built your den, can you draw it and label it?Outdoor/physical challenge; Can you make your castle in the clouds ? Use your Lego, duplicating etc to make a castle outside, you could use shaving foam if your brave enough to be the clouds, if not you could also do this in the bath tub! However failing that lets build our bean stalk as tall as you, can you make it balance? What did you have to do to make it balance, how tall can you make it?Count how many blocks it took you before it fell over! Can you do it again and improver the build, how many blocks did you use this time? More, less?1320806350000Math challenge; The above is a picture of a replica of a number line which we use at school.I have missed out some numbers and put these numbers in masking tape attached to old clothes pegs. The idea behind it is to use the pegs to fill in the missing numbers. I usually use this with leaves that we collect, in order to keep the theme of jack and the beanstalk! The benefit of these number lines is that you can one 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 it’s up to you and what level your child is at.I hope you enjoy, Annabelle loves it!Online marks.co.u-3556039000kStarting with a story, summer term week w/c/20th April.DAY 1 Supertato Please press play, and you will here a song about days of the week. Then keep listening as you will hear a challenge to trap the evil pea!(You have to make a trap for an evil pea)How many frozen vegetables are in your freezer, numbered list please.Look at the bags, are they full, half full etc…If you fancy you could also make jelly traps! (I did this with my girls but didn’t add anything and then they had it for pudding !)We talked about measurements, the shapes etc..(I did do some extra and added some peas into it and they had to count all the peas they got out!) I hope you have fun doing all your activities ! ................
