Graphing linear inequalities

To graph a linear inequality, first put it in graphing form

y = mx + b (ignore the inequality sign for the moment), and graph the line. If the inequality includes “equal,” as in “less than or equal,” draw a solid line. If the inequality does not include “equal,” as in just “less than,” draw a broken line.

Then, identify the region where y is greater for “greater than” or the region where y is smaller for “less than.” (Test one point from each side by substituting it in the equation to make sure the side you chose satisfies the inequality.)
